Father sentenced 60 years for raping stepdaughter (8)

A 36-year old Bindura man has been slapped with a 60-year jail term for repeatedly raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter.
The court heard that he raped the minor who had been left in his care on four separate occasions between August and September at a farm in Mazowe.
After the heinous act, he threatened the victim to instil fear and silence her, the court heard.
Following the fourth encounter on September 25, the offender threatened to kill both the victim and her mother before he fled the scene. The minor later confided in her friend (15) who informed her mother.
A police report was made leading to his arrest.
Addressing the Zanu-PF Politburo in Harare recently, President Emmerson Mnangagwa condemned sexual violence and abuse of children, stating that such barbaric acts have no place in a peaceful and modern Zimbabwe.
