Beer thief jailed for breaking into bar

PLUMTREE – A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in jail after stealing beer and cigarettes from a bar at Brunapeg Business Centre in Mpoengs.
Armstrong Dube appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who conditionally suspended nine months of the sentence, leaving Dube to serve 15 months behind bars.
The court heard that on October 17, the bar owner locked up and went home for the night. Dube unlawfully entered the premises and stole beer and cigarettes valued at US$310.
The theft was discovered the following morning, and a police report was filed. Officers later arrested Dube and recovered beer worth US$295 from his residence.
