A 25-year-old man from Tsholotsho has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked his biological brother with an axe following a dispute over missing property and money.

Somandla Moyo, of Norman Mafu's homestead along the Pelandaba line, appeared before Magistrate Taurai Manwere at the Bulawayo Magistrates Court. He was remanded in custody to March 13 and was not asked to plead to the charge.

According to the State's case, the incident occurred on December 15, 2025, at the family homestead. Somandla and his brother, Marshall Moyo, had just returned from a local business centre when an argument broke out. Marshall allegedly accused Somandla of stealing his property and money.

Prosecutors allege that the confrontation turned violent after Somandla reacted angrily to the accusation. He is said to have assaulted his brother before allegedly striking him on the head with an axe during the altercation.

Marshall sustained serious injuries and reported the matter to the police. Officers later arrested Somandla, who has remained in custody since his court appearance.

The case has been postponed to March 13 for further proceedings.
