Woman jailed 15 years for aggravated indecent assault

The Mutare Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 24‑year‑old woman to 15 years in prison after she was convicted of aggravated indecent assault on a 14‑year‑old boy.


The court heard that the offender and the victim live in the same village under Chief Zimunya in Mutare. On 23 September 2025, the boy went to the garden to water vegetables when the woman followed him. She allegedly asked him for sexual intercourse, but he refused.

Prosecutors said she then forced the boy to undress, pinned him down and had sexual intercourse with him. The victim later began passing bloody urine and reported the incident to his uncle, who accompanied him to the police. The woman was subsequently arrested.

The court condemned the abuse, noting that sexual offences against minors — regardless of the gender of the perpetrator — have severe and long‑lasting psychological effects.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said it would continue ensuring that offenders who prey on children are apprehended and face the full wrath of the law.
