Women in Hopely suburb, Harare, have held a Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 (CAB3) cake‑baking awareness event aimed at strengthening community understanding of the proposed amendment.

The event, held in Harare South Constituency, was addressed by human rights defender and political analyst Abigale Mupambi, who attended as guest of honour.

Organisers said the community‑driven programme blended civic education with social engagement, using cake baking as a symbolic and interactive tool to spark dialogue on constitutional matters. Participants used the activity to encourage residents to reflect on the implications of CAB3 and to promote informed public participation.

In her remarks, Mupambi praised the initiative, describing it as an important step in simplifying constitutional issues for ordinary citizens.

“Innovative community forums such as these play a vital role in demystifying constitutional issues and promoting citizen participation in national governance,” she said.

She urged continued grassroots involvement, particularly by women and young people, in shaping democratic processes and contributing to national development.

The event also underscored a growing trend in communities of combining civic education with cultural and social activities to boost public interest and strengthen understanding of governance issues.
