Jonathan Moyo, minister of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services, yesterday said community radio stations were not a priority for government as there were other pressing media issues to deal with.
His statement comes at a time when Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (Zacras) has been pushing for the licensing of community radios as a way of empowering communities in the country.
After hearing how Kenyans had benefited from plurality of community radio stations in communicating national issues to people from different ethnic groups, Moyo said Zimbabwe at the moment needed to focus on extricating the media from polarisation.
