Man axes wife to death over adultery

A Chinhoyi man has appeared in court for allegedly axing his wife over suspicions of her involvement in an extra-marital affair.

Ratwell Chakwizira appeared before High Court Judge Garainesu Mawadze, accused of killing his wife Taizivei Martha Chidoti in September last year at Tichaona Mutsvangwa's homestead in Alaska, Chinhoyi.

According to the facts, the couple, which is into tobacco farming, allegedly left Mutsvangwa's homestead early in the morning of September 18 last year to water their tobacco seedbeds.

At around 4pm, the couple had an altercation with Chakwizira accusing his wife Taizivei of having an extra-marital affair.

Chakwizira, who was reportedly incensed by the fact that his wife admitted to the extra-marital affair, struck her with an axe twice on the head resulting in her dying instantly.

Chakwizira allegedly took the baby and went home.

Along the way, he removed the axe blade from the handle and left it in the bush.

Chidoti's body was only discovered by Asher Tinokunda Tapi, who was doing his routine patrols at Glenshields Farm three days later.
