Treger, ZRP women's club steal the limelight

TREGER Products and ZRP Kuyedza Women's Club stole the limelight at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) yesterday as they scooped three accolades each in their respective categories.

This year's ZITF saw exhibitors battling it out in 21 categories.

The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development bagged two accolades.

Another notable winner was the First Family's Alpha Omega Dairy which beat National Foods as well as the Grain Marketing Board in the Agro-processing, Value Addition and Beneficiation category.

ZITF's general manager Nomathemba Ndlovu said winners were recognised for showing originality and having quality products.

"This year we had 21 categories and exhibits were judged based on the following criteria: overall impression, originality, information available on the exhibit as well as quality of personnel manning the stand," said Ndlovu.

Treger Products were winners in the Agricultural and or Irrigation Equipment category as well as the Construction, Building and Hardware and Furniture, Home Improvement and Interior categories.

ZRP Kuyedza Women's Club showed other women what women empowerment can produce as they outclassed their competitors in the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics category; Clothing, Footwear, Textiles and Accessories categories as well as the Craft Exhibit section.

The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development also won two accolades in the Education and Training section elbowing out the National University of Science and Technology which won the award for the past four years.

The Ministry also came top in the supreme Zimbabwean exhibit category, winning the President's Award.

Another stand, Home of Zanu-PF emerged as the best in the Small to Medium Enterprises category after bringing together different SMEs to showcase their products.

Huawei Tech Investments was the best in the first time exhibitors' category while Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority won the Tourism and Travel category with ZimTrade winning the non-industrial or non-commercial display.

NetOne cellular outshone its competitors in the Information Technology Communications category while Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) emerged the best in the Medical and Health-Related exhibitions.

Delta Corporation won the best food group, Toyota Zimbabwe won in the Motor Trade category while the Rural Electrification Agency was the best in the mining and engineering category.

South Africa's Department of Trade and Industry outshone other foreign companies scooping the outstanding foreign display.
