The Residents and Churches Peace Network (RCPENT) has called on the Nkulumane community to resist political interference and instead unite in selecting a successor to the late MP Desire Moyo who embodied inclusive leadership and community-driven development.

RCPENT Chairman Max Mkandla urged political parties to refrain from imposing candidates on the constituency, emphasizing that the responsibility of choosing a new representative should lie with residents, churches, and civic groups.

"These residents and civic society and churches must build peace in the community and assist in the identification of the leader who will take over from the late MP," Mkandla said.

He praised Moyo's legacy as a unifier who served all residents regardless of political affiliation. Moyo's development committee, he noted, was inclusive and focused on tangible progress across all wards in Nkulumane.

"Our call for the stop of the politically aligned approach to this constituency is because Desire was not discriminating against residents according to their political party, but took care of all the residents," Mkandla added.

He stressed the importance of finding a leader who mirrors Moyo's commitment to unity and development, warning that partisan politics could derail the progress already made.
