MDC hits out at 'nonentity' Gaule for joining Zanu-PF

The Welshman Ncube-led MDC's Matabeleland North province has described Believe Gaule as a nonentity who is attempting to revive his waning political career.
Gaule, the former MDC Senator for Tsholotsho who re-joined Zanu-PF last week, was 10 years ago, a member of Zanu-PF and allegedly invited party officials who included the now Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa as guest of honour at Dinyane High School for what became known as the Tsholotsho debacle.
At the time, he was the Zanu-PF Tsholotsho district coordinating committee chairperson. With Gaule dumping MDC at a time the party is grappling with problems associated with forming a coalition with MDC Renewal team that would spawn a formidable united party to confront Zanu-PF, MDC says it is not losing any sleep over his surprise move.
"MDC will not lose sleep over cheap Zanu-PF kindergarten attempts at propaganda by trying to portray Mr Gaule as having left the party to them during the past weekend," Jealous Sansole, the MDC Matabeleland North provincial chairman said.
Sansole said it is on public record that the party gave Gaule political sanctuary and an opportunity to be rehabilitated after "Zanu-PF wolves sought his flesh for his participation in the Tsholotsho debacle at Dinyane".
"We hold no grudge against him and wish him the best," he said.
"We, however, will not be available to offer sanctuary again in future when, as it will happen, the Zanu-PF succession gladiators remember his past sins and go for his jugular."
Sansole said at the time of Gaule's departure, he was no longer a bona fide member of the party.
"MDC Matabeleland North's records show that Gaule ceased to be our member and part of our structures after the expiry of the previous Parliament before the July 31, 2013 elections when he was omitted from the MP list after the party learnt that he had sought to re-join Zanu-PF," Sansole said.
"Since then, he ceased to be our party member, all MDC members were notified of that fact."
He described the move as an act of desperation, political insincerity and immaturity adding that it was a clear tactic to appease his Dinyane colleagues in the hope of getting political refuge.
Gaule's flip-flopping comes almost two years after he declared that he was not going back to Zanu-PF.
