Shaun Wright-Phillips has reportedly handed in a transfer request in the hope of making a move away from Manchester City.
The winger has spent close to a decade in two spells at Eastlands, but has been experiencing difficulty getting regular football this season - as he has made only two starts in the Premier League in the club's current campaign.
City boss Roberto Mancini had recently admitted that he could allow midfielder Michael Johnson to leave on loan to get some match practice after a long-term injury, but maintained that he did not envision any other exits.
And with Adam Johnson having sustained an ankle injury in training, it had been thought that the former Chelsea midfielder could remain at Eastlands.
