A FORMER Amakorokoza actress on Friday dragged her lover - a married man - to court for falling to pay maintenance for their child.
Joyce Mpofu, now a vendor, was demanding $171 from Sikhumbuzo Mpofu for the upkeep of their 14-year old child.
The former actress accused Mpofu of being an irresponsible father and stingy since he earned a lot of money but is neglecting his child.
"I know he is supplying sausages to hotels. I think he earns $1,000 to $1,500 and his wife works so he can afford to pay maintenance for his son. I am just a vendor selling jiggies and I cannot afford to raise the child alone," Mpofu told Bulawayo magistrate Vimbai Mtukwa.
However, Sikhumbuzo said he could only afford $40 disputing that he supplies sausages to hotels.
"I can only afford to give her $40 since I earn $120 per month. I have other two children and a wife to take care of," he argued.
"She is lying. I do not supply sausages to hotels. I am not employed; I have a small car which I use to take my children to school. I then make money from picking up passengers on my way home."
He further accused the former actress of being a drunkard since they have been together for 17 years adding that she was a sheeben queen.
Sikhumbuzo said he was afraid that Joyce would lead their son astray.
Mtukwa ordered Sikhumbuzo to pay $70 for the child until he reached the age of 18.
