South African music Icons Splash, Dalom Kids & Matshikos have signed up for two shows in the United Kingdom in March 2017. They return after a four year hiatus, having last performed in the UK in 2012 in Leicester.
In 2012, hundreds of music fans filled up the now defunct Starlite Centre in Leicester at their last event and the Stars, all part of the Dalom music stable owned by Dan Tshanda are once again expected to draw big crowds at their events at Dunstable Leisure Centre on Friday 3rd March and Saturday 4th March respectively at Leeds West Indian Centre.
Promoters of the event PHAB Entertainment who also hosted the previous event said: "We are pleased to have yet another opportunity to work with this magnificent group once again. Splash never disappoint, the feedback we got last time was very positive and we have constantly been inundated with requests from fans to bring Splash back to UK". Already this event is generating a lot of excitement from the day we first posted the flyer, we have been receiving a lot of enquiries about the show and it's looking good. This time around we have also decided to have two shows to cater for more fans".
Splash front man Dan Tshanda is a legendary producer, song writer and one of the most enduring names in South African music. Affectionately known as "The hit machine, The Boss or Big husband, Tshanda is at home performing all over Southern Africa. His music shows always attract huge crowds especially in Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe where he has performed successfully for over two decades. Splash's love affair with Zimbabwe in particular dates back to 1992 when they performed in front of over 15 000 fans at Barbourfields Stadium, the event was also graced by the late VP Dr Joshua Nkomo who seemingly was having a good time. Since then Splash have made Zimbabwe their favourite hunting ground and are arguably the only South African band still capable of performing twice a year in Bulawayo and still attracting a full house.
Dalom music's unique brand of music has secured the stable a cult following. You need not to look further than the group's pages on social networking site Facebook to experience the zeal and passion of Dalom music by their fans. Splash, Dalom Kids, Patricia Majalisa and Matshikos' hits have been anthems in Bulawayo's shebeens from 1986 to this day.
From Splash's debut hit Peacock in 1986, the unforgettable 1990s albums Eye for an Eye, Nesindande, Khoma Khoma, Double face, Dalom kids' Mathambo, Ndincedeni, Sixolelele and Matshikos Cruel World, Victory and Man of Peace, Dan Tshanda has stayed true to his sound and prevailed in the cut-throat and fast evolving industry. Always never far away from producing a hit, Dan is currently the man of the moment in Bulawayo with his latest collaboration "Siyazenzela" with Botswana's Vee Mampisi.
Many South African groups touring the UK have often left fans very disappointed with their one hour sets, forcing fans to seek alternative entertainment in night clubs. However, one thing always guaranteed at a Splash event is none stop quality entertainment from the seasoned performers who usually perform till the last man standing. As always, Dan Tshanda will be travelling with the keyboard masters Spalsh, the sensational Dalom Kids, Montana and Matshikos.
