Johannesburg - A man convicted of raping 11 women and a 12-year-old girl was sentenced to 17 life terms in prison by the South African South Gauteng High Court, The Star reported on Friday.
Jazzman Rikhotso, 31, dubbed the Avalon cemetery rapist, would serve all the life sentences concurrently.
Rikhotso was on Thursday also sentenced on other charges, including three years for each of 10 counts of kidnapping and 15 years on each of six counts of robbery.
Judge Colin Lamont condemned Rikhotso for raping a woman in the presence of her child.
"The accused indiscriminately raped women without concern for their age or fragility. Some women were raped in the presence of their family."
His youngest victim was just 12-years-old while the eldest was 68.
Rikhotso has denied he was responsible for the spate of rapes in the cemetery between April 2008 and August 2010.
