Businessman and African investor Sir Wicknell Zikhomo Kwambiri was among the regional leaders and dignitaries who attended the inauguration of Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika, sworn in as the 7th President of the Republic of Malawi at Kamuzu Stadium last week.

This was revealed via an X (formerly Twitter) post by C H Mukungunugwa, who shared that in a statement released shortly after the ceremony, Sir Wicknell expressed profound joy and solidarity with the people of Malawi, calling the occasion a historic moment of renewal and trust in President Mutharika's leadership.

"It is with the most profound joy that I join our dear brothers and sisters from Malawi in congratulating His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika on his historic inauguration and return to the Presidency," Sir Wicknell said.

Chivhayo reportedly commended the Malawian electorate for speaking "decisively" and reaffirming their confidence in Mutharika's proven track record of visionary governance.

According to Mukungunugwa, Sir Wicknell held a private hour-long meeting with President Mutharika on the sidelines of the event, where they discussed strategic cooperation in renewable energy, infrastructure rehabilitation, and socio-economic development.

Sir Wicknell said he was deeply inspired by the President's inclusive vision for national transformation, anchored on unity expressed in Chichewa as "tili limodzi pa ulendo uwu" ("we are together on this journey").

He also highlighted the ideological alignment between Malawi's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu PF, led by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, noting that both parties share a commitment to developmental nationalism and Pan-African progress.

"Malawi and Zimbabwe have always enjoyed cordial relations rooted in our shared liberation history. Under President Mutharika's renewed leadership, I am confident these bilateral ties will grow even stronger," he added.

Sir Wicknell concluded by extending heartfelt wishes to President Mutharika.

"Zikomo kwambiri, Mr. President Sir, and may God richly bless your new term of office," he said.
