'ZEC press statement' trending on social media is FAKE
23 Aug 2023 at 06:56hrs | Views
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) notes with concern that there are people peddling falsehoods under the guise of the ZEC name.
The public is hereby notified that a press statement trending on social media allegedly issued by the ZEC Chief Elections Officer Mr U. Silaigwana purportedly disqualifying Priscilla Moyo as a Zanu Pf candidate for Mwenezi West is fake.
Priscilla Moyo is a candidate for Mwenezi West and has not been disqualified. Such people who are bent on misinforming and misdirecting the public are warned that their acts are in violation of the Electoral Act and perpetrators may be prosecuted.
The Commission dismisses such reckless statements with the contempt they deserve.
