A 54-year-old woman from Makokoba in Bulawayo has been brought before the court, facing two charges of domestic violence stemming from a bitter dispute with her ex-husband over an alleged extramarital affair.
Lindi Mhlanga admitted her guilt during her appearance before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa on Monday. She has been remanded in custody until November 6 of this year.
The complainant in the case is Simiso Sydney Khumalo, who is the accused's ex-husband.
The court was informed that on the evening of October 15, Mhlanga contacted Khumalo to discuss a case he had reported to the police involving his ex-wife. They met at Mhlanga's residence, where an argument ensued, and she attempted to assault Khumalo on the head with a stabbing motion. Khumalo managed to block the attack, but he suffered a cut between his thumb and forefinger on his left arm. Mhlanga also allegedly bit Khumalo on his left palm, which necessitated his referral to the hospital for medical treatment.
On the second count, the court heard that on September 17, Mhlanga and Khumalo were at a party in Makokoba when he accused his ex-wife of engaging in extramarital affairs. An altercation ensued between the two, resulting in Mhlanga using a kitchen knife to stab her ex-husband on the head. Khumalo was subsequently referred to the hospital for a medical examination.
A police report was filed, leading to Mhlanga's arrest.
