ATTACKING the wife of her boyfriend with a razor blade earned a Burma Valley woman six months behind bars. Agnes Chigodzore (24) was convicted on her own plea of guilty for contravening Section 157 (1) of the Criminal Law of (Codification and Reform) Act when she appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi. Three months of the sentence were suspended on condition that she pays $100 fine, while the remaining three months were set aside on condition of good behaviour.
Chigodzore admitted to cutting Precious Munacho on her back and right hand with a razor blade. Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted. On November 20, Munacho heard that Chigodzore was having a sexual relationship with her husband. Munacho then approached Chigodzore with a view of solving the matter amicably.
However, when Chigodzore saw Munacho she tried to escape, but she failed. She took a surgical razor blade and cut Munacho on her back and right hand. After the act Chigodzore disappeared.
Asked why she committed the offence, Chigodzora told the court that it was a mistake. "I don't think you are normal because you cut someone knowingly and you attribute it to a mistake. You committed a serious offence which calls for a jail term, but because you are a mother of two you will pay a fine. Desist from that behaviour or you will serve the alternative three months," said Mr Mukwengi.
