MDC-T deputy secretary general Tapiwa Mashakada has said the inclusive government which involved his party had brought relief to the country's economy which the ruling Zanu PF has now reversed.
Maskahada said Bubi-Lupane dam was completed by the inclusive government and commissioned by the then Prime Minister The Right Honourable Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai in 2012.
"In fact all these water bodies I have been talking about had stalled until macro-stability was restored during the inclusive gvt and funds secured to complete the dams. This progress also took place in the roads and energy sector during the inclusive government. Many opponents of Tsvangirai will not see the great value he put to the development of the inclusive government. Tendai Biti Elton Mangoma, Nelson Chamisa,Sipepa Nkomo, Theresa Makone, Joel Gabhuza and of course my Economic Plannning Ministry should equally be credited with the completion of these public projects," he said.
"In fact the whole MDC Cabinet deployees worked round the clock to pull Zim out of the economic morass. Economics and business first and politics second. Of course this commitment to serve Zimbabwe, which we do not regret, cost us dearly as Zanu PF did nothing but to continue to control the securocrats and youth officers with one objective and that was to keep political power at all costs. For them the economy was secondary."
He said that's why after 2013 the economy collapsed again leading to the introduction of bond notes.
"Confidence levels plummeted and the fiscal deficit rose from usd50 million in 2013 to usd1.8 billion in 2016. Thanks to Zanu-PF rigging, the health sector crumpled and everything else declined," he said.
