Grace Mugabe is still enjoying the high life and appears undiminished by her husband's unceremonious fall from power last year, a new video appears to show.
In a video recording said to have been made last Saturday, Grace is shown singing a popular tune to guests gathered for a luncheon party in the Harare garden of the couple's 'Blue Roof' mansion.
Dressed in a dark outfit and a wide-brimmed bush hat and decked out in jewellery, the former first lady sings to the backing of a live band as guests sit around tables covered with white table cloths.
Wine and champagne
The video, available on YouTube, pans across tables covered with silver cutlery, glasses and bottles of wine and champagne.
A couple can be seen dancing, while other guests chat at the tables. It's unclear what the occasion was, though Grace did turn 53 last month.
"Life is good wooooooo for them whilst they left Zim for dead," said @TGumunyu, in one of many comments posted beneath the video clip, which was widely circulated on social media this week.
Said @mzie20: "Enjoying life.. far less stressful than leading a faction..", a reference to Grace Mugabe's ill-fated attempt to position herself and other ambitious young ruling party officials to succeed her husband.
Hollywood lifestyle
The ruling party factional battles triggered last November's military takeover that replaced Robert Mugabe with current president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The private Daily News said that despite the couple's fall from power, the video showed that Grace Mugabe had not lost "her connection with the mic".
"People thought their removal from the seat of power would mark the end of Grace's Hollywood-style life, but the 53-year-old seems to be living her life to the fullest," the paper said.
