Granny axes man over firewood

POLICE in Rushinga, Mashonaland Central province arrested a 52-year-old who went beserk and axed a man who confronted her over cutting fire wood in his field on Sunday.
Eustina Lucia Gomwe of Gondo village was arrested after striking Ruchiva Kayanga of the same village three times on shoulders with an axe.
The provincial police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo confirmed the attempted murder.
"I can confirm an attempted murder case in Rushinga where Gomwe struck Kayanga three times with an axe over fire wood dispute," Dhliwayo said.
Allegations are that Gomwe went to Kayanga's field to cut firewood but when Kayanga saw her cutting firewood in his field he confronted her.
Gomwe was not happy with the confrontation and charged at Kayanga wielding an axe.
She struck him three times on his shoulders and was restrained from further assault by Temptation Nyamukudza.
Kayanga was rushed to Chimhanda hospital where he is currently admitted and Gomwe was arrested.
Police warned people to desist from violence and urged them to consider dialogue when ever they have differences.
