Mvurwi Town Council has been accused of allegedly diverting gravel loads to a primary school (Mudavanhu) in a corrupt manner.
Residents who spoke to told Bulawayo24.com said that the tippers which were used for the ordeal was contracted by the council for road graveling.
"Since the tippers are contracted by the council, they should not do other jobs until the road graveling contract is complete," Moses Bvungo explained
"This means that these trucks are being diverted to private hiring and the drivers are also involved.
The roads won't be finished anytime soon and the Mudavanhu people are also guilty because they bribed the driver to do them a favor," added Bvungo
Another resident Silvia Mutsvairo said, "The tippers allegedly went with three loads of gravel to the school."
The sources added that despite the fact that residents are the ones who are paying for the hiring of the trucks, the drivers are doing extra private jobs while on duty.
Instead of offloading the gravel at the road graveling site, the drivers are reportedly going with it to the primary school.
Contacted for comment the Mvurwi town secretary Obedia Gapa tried to downplay the case saying,"Which road is that?"
