Officer Commanding Bindura district Chief Superintendent Gladman Chiparaushe reportedly defied president Emmerson Mnangagwa's directive to arrest a senior staffer in the president's office Collen Mharadzano.
Mharadzano allegedly abused the name of President Emmerson Mnangagwa by chasing away all security agencies in the ICT room in Bindura last week where provincial election results were being colleated.
Verifications were made and police were ordered to arrest Mharadzano since he was at the center of a rigging storm.
Chief Superintendent Chiparaushe who is an ally of Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe's refused to act on the order and requested law and order Harare to act.
Disgruntled subordinates also allege that Chiparaushe issued an order during a parade instructing his subordinates to protect their minster during the just ended provincial election.
Sources close to investigations told this publication that Mharadzano was subsequently arrested in Harare.
Chiparaushe refused to comment while police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi could not be reached for comment.
The provincial race between Kazembe and Tafadzwa Musarara was tightly contested and Kazembe was preliminary announced victor while Musarara alleged vote rigging in Guruve and Mbire districts respectively.
The Politburo is set to deliberate on the just ended provincial election results tomorrow.
