Schoolboy (17) in court for raping his sister (8)

A 17-year-old Howmine Secondary School pupil has appeared in court, facing two counts of rape.

He is alleged to have raped his 8-year-old sister.

The pupil pleaded guilty to count one but denied second count two when he appeared before Bulawayo Regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.

Malunga sentenced him to 5 years in prison which were suspended on condition he does not commit any similar offences within the next five years and that he is still a juvenile.

The Court heard that sometime in 2019 during the night, the 8-year-old female juvenile was sleeping in the dining room at their residential home when her brother sneaked into her blankets and slept with her and raped her.

The court heard that also on May 15 2021 at 6pm he called her sister who was playing outside and told her that he had sexual intercourse with her while she was sleeping. He also asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.

The girl reported the matter to her mother.

They reported the matter to the police leading to the boy's arrest.
