Shamva based Simba Stars (Bhora) owner and gold buyer Simba Ndoro allegedly lost US$53 000 and 300 grams of gold worth more than 15 000 dollars in an armed robbery at his premises on Saturday.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case.
Allegations are that suspected robbers pretended to be clients intending to sell gold to licensed gold buyer Ndoro's agents at his premises in Shamva's Wadzanai high density suburb.
One of the suspects allegedly produced a pistol and ordered the two agents Tawanda Muwandi and Romeo Ndoro to lie on the floor before tying them with shoelaces.
The suspects ransacked the smelting office and got away with the loot.
Inspector Mundembe appealed to gold dealers to store their gold and sales proceeds in safes and to enhance security measures such as guards and installing closed circuit television (cctv). He urged anyone who may have information leading to the recovery of the stolen items to approach CID Bindura or any nearest police station.
