The sharp increase in the number of male sex workers has raised concern to National Aids Council (NAC) though most of them shun the help and consideration.
The NAC coordinator for Kwekwe urban Fadzai Madondo said there was a need to engage men so that they will not be at risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections and suffering in silence.
Speaking during a meeting held in Kwekwe last week she said, "We have noticed a significant increase in the male sex workers although they are not willing to open up. Most of them are bisexual and some gay while preferring women only.
"Unfortunately, we are not getting a positive response but we will continue engaging them, the male sex workers usually target elderly sex-starved women as well as widowed women".
Madondo said their female counterparts are forthcoming and cooperative.
