A Chiweshe couple was allegedly struck dead by a bolt of lightning on Sunday.
According to police George Jaji (80) and his wife Joyleen Saungweme (52) left their home in Jaji Village, Chief Makope on Sunday around 4pm heading to their garden where they intended to harvest their tomatoes.
The couple never returned prompting their son Dean Movern Jaji (24) to follow them to the garden, about two kilometres from their homestead around 7pm.
He was shocked to see his parents all dead.
The husband was found lying on the ground with his teeth biting the tongue which stuck out.
Saungweme was in a semi-sitting position balancing with the garden fence, with her tongue turned black and sticking out of her mouth.
It is further alleged that they were some light rains with thunderstorms on that day.
