Mnangagwa meets church leaders

President Mnangagwa has engaged with various indigenous and Pentecostal church leaders who extended their congratulations to him for his victory and that of the ruling Zanu-PF party in the recent August 23 harmonized elections.

The church leaders, representing various denominations including the Roman Catholic Church, Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Vapostori, Zion4ED, Lutheran, African Apostolic Church Mwazha, were led by Reverend Andrew Wutawunashe, the chairman of the Zimbabwe Indigenous Inter-Denominational Council of Churches (ZIIC).

After their meeting at State House in Harare, President Mnangagwa expressed his gratitude for the presence of these spiritual leaders and encouraged them to organize a National Day of Prayer before the year concludes. He highlighted the importance of nurturing a sense of responsibility among all citizens to contribute to the development of their country.

President Mnangagwa further stated his intention to collaborate with these religious leaders to arrange a national prayer event, possibly in November or early December, to emphasize the nation's Christian values and principles. Prominent church figures like Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi and Vapostori and Zion4ED national executive chairperson Madzibaba Moses Gwasira were among those present at the meeting.
