Last week, an incident occurred in Mphoengs, Plumtree, where a knife-wielding robber allegedly stole cash from a patron who was drinking.
The case was presented before the Plumtree Magistrates' Court yesterday, with Gamudimo Nkomo facing a robbery charge before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware. He has been remanded in custody until November 13.
According to the State's allegation, on October 28 last year, the victim, Ngwenya, was enjoying a drink in the Makhokhoba area. Subsequently, he left for his home, carrying R3030 in cash within his jacket pockets.
The accused purportedly followed Ngwenya, approaching from behind, and forcefully kicked him to the ground. Nkomo then brandished a knife and demanded the victim surrender the cash. Afterward, he removed the victim's jacket containing the money and absconded.
