Man jailed 9 years for selling live pangolin

A 36-YEAR-OLD Kwekwe man was sentenced to nine years in jail by a Bindura magistrate for possessing a live pangolin.


Douglas Chikandiwa of house number 213 Mbizo Kwekwe was convicted by Bindura magistrate Tinashe Ndokera.

Prosecutor Shiella Kudzai Maribha told the court that on October 14 Chikwandiwa was lured to come to Masvika resort in Mazowe where he was tricked by members of Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife who purported to be buyers.

Upon his arrival he met the purported buyer and showed him the pangolin before being arrested.
