Econet Wireless Zimbabwe's customers in Manicaland have reported high satisfaction with improved connectivity following a network upgrade from 3G to 4G technology.
This upgrade, part of a nationwide deployment of 1,000 4G base stations completed last year, has led to better voice call quality and faster mobile data speeds, enhancing the overall customer experience.
A customer survey revealed a network reliability index of 4.03 out of 5, with over 70% of respondents pleased with the improvements.
Complaints about network connectivity dropped by 70% between August 2023 and March 2024. The positive feedback came from various towns and settlements across the province, including Mutare, Chipinge, and Nyanga.
Local residents shared their experiences, noting significant improvements in everyday connectivity, which have facilitated video calls, online education, and reliable internet access for professional use.
Students and teachers highlighted the benefits for education, allowing rural students to participate in online classes and access educational resources.
Healthcare professionals and business owners also praised the upgrade for enhancing their work efficiency and communication.
Econet has announced plans to continue its network modernization, targeting an additional 550 sites this year.
