Yesterday, parts of Matabeleland South, Masvingo Province, and Manicaland in southeast Zimbabwe experienced cold temperatures.
The cold and cloudy conditions, driven by south-easterly winds, are expected to extend to Bulawayo, Harare Metropolitan, southern Midlands, Matabeleland North, and Mashonaland East by tomorrow.
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) predicts the cold spell will last until Wednesday, with temperatures below 20°C during the day and dropping to 3°C in the early mornings.
Today, Matabeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland will likely see cloudy, windy, and cold weather, with potential light rain and drizzle.
The MSD noted an increase in wind pressure along Southern Africa's southeast coast, driving a cold and moist south-easterly airflow into Zimbabwe.
Before clouds move in, a cold and dry southerly airflow is expected on Friday, with frost and temperatures below 3°C in frost-prone areas like Matopos, Gweru, Lupane, Masvingo, Marondera, and Nyanga.
From today, the cloudy, windy, and cold conditions with occasional light rain will persist in Matabeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland.
These conditions will reach Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern Matabeleland North, Midlands, Harare, and Mashonaland East by Sunday, with a slight warming expected on Wednesday as clouds disperse.
