Infant dies after falling into hot water bucket

A six-month-old baby girl tragically lost her life on Friday in Kambuzuma, Harare, after falling into a 20-litre bucket filled with hot water.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, which occurred in Kambuzuma 5. National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the infant passed away upon admission to a Harare hospital following the accident.

"The ZRP reports a tragic incident in which a six-month-old baby died upon admission at a Harare hospital after falling into a 20-litre bucket filled with hot water on November 15 in Kambuzuma 5, Harare," said Commissioner Nyathi.
The Incident

According to initial reports, the mother of the child had placed the hot water bucket near a couch where she was seated. It is unclear how the baby fell into the bucket, but the accident has left the family devastated.

"Parents and guardians are advised to always remain vigilant and ensure the safety of young children by keeping hazardous items, such as buckets with hot water, in safe and inaccessible places," he said.
