2 dead, 51 injured in accident along Bulawayo -Victoria Falls road

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on December 6, 2024, along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, at the 330-kilometre peg. The accident, which took place around 18:40 hours, claimed the lives of two people and left 51 others injured.
The crash involved a Shackman Tipper truck that was carrying 69 passengers. According to the ZRP, the vehicle overturned and landed on its left side, resulting in multiple casualties. While 16 passengers were fortunate enough to escape unhurt, the remaining passengers sustained various injuries, some of which were critical.
The bodies of the two deceased individuals were taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. The 51 injured passengers were also admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, while appealing to the public for information that could aid in the investigation. This tragic incident has once again highlighted the importance of road safety measures, especially for passengers traveling on long-distance routes.
