A shocking case of student abuse has come to light at Ruya Adventist High School in Mt Darwin, where the school's head chef, Lesley Bizwell, allegedly locked a female student in a toilet and savagely assaulted her, resulting in a broken hand.

The victim, Meloshance Kashingaidze, suffered a fractured left hand and multiple bruises after the brutal attack, which was reportedly sparked by accusations of gossiping leveled against her by Bizwell.

According to Meloshance, the assault took place after the chef locked her inside a toilet cubicle.

"She locked the toilet door after asking me to enter. I thought she wanted me to clean the toilet, only to be treated like a snake," Meloshance told H-Metro.

"‘Hanzi ndichakurova kusvikira wanyarara upfidze kuita makuhwa' [She said she would beat me until I stop gossiping]. She used thick sticks on me, even hitting my safety shoe and dry hands. I cried for help, begged for forgiveness, but in vain, until she broke my hand."

The attack only ceased after Meloshance pleaded for mercy, her hand already fractured from the beating.

The school deputy head, Mrs. Zingoni, rushed Meloshance to Mt Darwin Hospital, but the hospital staff refused to treat her injuries without a police report.

This refusal forced the truth out, despite efforts by school authorities to keep the incident quiet. Tensions escalated among students and staff, with some pupils threatening to demonstrate in protest.

Following the hospital's insistence on a police report before treatment could be administered, Lesley Bizwell was arrested three days after the incident and is expected to appear in court today.

Meloshance expressed confusion and distress over the attack, saying she does not understand the allegations against her.

"As we speak, I am yet to know her reason for ruthlessly attacking me; it's an issue she is refusing to disclose," she said.

It was also revealed that Lesley Bizwell previously made headlines for similar abusive behavior against students at Junction Adventist School, after which she was transferred to Ruya Adventist High School.

The case has sparked outrage among the community, calling for strict action to protect students from abuse and ensure their safety within school premises.
