Motorists across the country benefited from promotions rolled out by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) during the recently concluded Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

As part of the initiative, motorists with outstanding arrears received a 50 percent discount on penalties, while senior citizens had their penalties completely waived - allowing elderly drivers to regularize their vehicle licenses at no cost.

Bulawayo24.com visited ZINARA's Harare Central branch, where long queues were observed. Despite the high turnout, service was swift and efficient, thanks to the alert and responsive ZINARA officers.

Takudzwa Gumbungwe, a motorist assisted at the Harare Central branch, praised the team's dedication.

"We were thrilled to receive such discounts. As expected, long queues formed, but we had no complaints. The ZINARA Central branch really came to our rescue," Gumbungwe said.

Senior citizen Grace Gombera also expressed gratitude, noting that her arrears were cleared.

"I had outstanding fees for my fleet of cars, and they were all cleared thanks to the Harare Central branch. It was definitely busy this year," Gombera added.

In a statement, ZINARA said the promotions were designed to encourage compliance with licensing regulations. The initiative also responds to widespread concerns from the motoring public, many of whom have accumulated significant arrears over the years due to financial challenges.
