The City of Bulawayo has advised residents and stakeholders that ongoing upgrade works at the Umzingwane Pump Station have been delayed, pushing back the expected restoration of full water supply.
The improvements, initially scheduled for completion on Monday, 6 October 2025, have been delayed due to setbacks in the delivery of materials and fabrication processes at the site.
Town Clerk Christopher Dube said on Tuesday, 7 October, that the city now expects the works to be completed, with all systems successfully tested, by Friday, 10 October 2025.
In the meantime, water supply will remain inconsistent and will be managed according to reservoir levels. Distribution will also depend on the capacity of the city's reservoirs.
The upgrades are intended to boost pumping capacity and improve the reliability of water supply for Bulawayo residents.
