The ZANU PF Women's League, in partnership with Young Women 4ED, has distributed 10,000 chicks to women across Manicaland Province as part of a grassroots empowerment initiative aimed at boosting household incomes and promoting economic self-reliance.
The development was announced by ZANU PF legislator Wisdom Musikavanhu via X (formerly Twitter), who described the event as a milestone in the party's gender equity and empowerment agenda.
"The ZANU PF Women's League and Young Women 4ED, true torchbearers of gender equity and economic empowerment, have orchestrated a remarkable event in Manicaland Province," Musikavanhu posted.
"Distributing a grand total of 10,000 chicks to women across the province, this inspired initiative breathes life into His Excellency President Dr ED Mnangagwa's visionary agenda to elevate Zimbabwe's women to the forefront of economic prosperity, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of national growth and progress."
Snowball Tongogara, another party activist, echoed the sentiment, stating that empowerment is central to ZANU PF's identity.
"What surprises me is that there are still women who are not subscribed members of the ZANU PF Women's League. In Makoni West Constituency, ZANU PF Secretary for Women's Affairs and President of the Senate, Hon. M. Chinomona, officially launched the Presidential Poultry Scheme in partnership with Young Women 4ED," he posted.
Tongogara added that Hon. Chinomona also distributed a range of tools and equipment - including carts, ploughs, and wheelbarrows - to women who are leading empowerment efforts in their communities.
The initiative is part of a broader push to support women-led agricultural ventures and promote inclusive development in line with Zimbabwe's Vision 2030.
