Police investigate fatal hit-and-run accident

PENHALONGA - The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on 13 October 2025 along the Christmas Pass-Shamhu Road in Penhalonga.
According to a statement posted on the ZRP's official X account, an unidentified motorist struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the road at the 7.5 km peg. The victim sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot. The driver fled the scene without rendering assistance.
Meanwhile, police also confirmed a separate fatal accident on 14 October 2025 at the 82 km peg along the Harare–Chirundu Road, involving a haulage truck and a Honda Fit.
"As a result of the collision, both occupants of the Honda Fit (a couple) died on the spot, while the two occupants of the truck were injured," the ZRP reported.
The deceased were taken to Chinhoyi Hospital for post-mortem examination. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
