Cousin's creepy crush lands him behind bars

A 26-year-old man, Iwani Dube, appeared before Plumtree Magistrate Joshua Nembaware charged with threatening to have sexual relations with his 32-year-old cousin.

Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that on 14 October, around midday at Madabe Business Centre, Dube unexpectedly told his cousin that he wanted to have sex with her. The woman initially dismissed the comment, reminding him that they were related.

However, later that night, as she sat alone at her homestead, she recalled Dube's words and feared he might act on them. She reported the matter to Dube's mother the following morning, only to find Dube present. He allegedly repeated the threat, warning he would "come for her" and even beat her with a switch if she refused.

Alarmed, the woman fled and reported the incident to the police, who subsequently arrested Dube. He has been remanded in custody until 28 October.
