BULAWAYO - Civic Society and Churches Joint Forum (CSC JF), a peace-building organisation, has joined forces with the National Multifaith Economic Dialogue (NAMFED) and the Mafakela Health Environment Task Force (MHETF) to launch a national clean-up campaign aimed at promoting public health and environmental responsibility.

CSC JF coordinator Max Mkandla said the initiative will kick off with simultaneous clean-up activities in Bulawayo and Harare, involving residents and church members. He emphasized that the campaign will be conducted regularly, as "health comes first before anything else in life."

Mkandla called on parliamentarians and councillors to actively participate at ward level, saying their presence would encourage community involvement and demonstrate leadership commitment.

"NAMFED members and concerned residents are already geared up for this day," Mkandla said. "We also urge authorities to expedite responses to congregations who applied for land to worship, rather than sending rangers to remove them."

He appealed to the Ministry of Lands to engage with religious leaders, including Obey Mapuranga, to find sustainable solutions for open-air worshippers such as Johane Masowe and Zion congregants. "They must be supported to remain clean and healthy while practicing their faith," he added.

The campaign reflects a growing collaboration between civic groups, faith-based organisations, and environmental advocates to address sanitation challenges and promote inclusive development.
