HARARE - ZANU-PF's Harare youth wing has enthusiastically endorsed the recent co-option of prominent businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei into the party's Central Committee, describing the move as a major "economic relief" for both the party and the country.
Speaking during a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting over the weekend, Harare youth chairperson Emmanuel Mahachi said Tagwirei's inclusion would enhance the party's capacity to implement development programmes, particularly those targeting young people.
"Economics complement politics. Elder Tagwirei's co-option is a major economic relief to both the party and the country," Mahachi said. "This will ensure that youth empowerment initiatives are realised more effectively than before."
Mahachi also welcomed the influx of new youth members into the party, praising their commitment to transforming their peers and contributing to national development.
The youth wing believes Tagwirei's business acumen and financial muscle will strengthen ZANU-PF's economic agenda, especially amid Zimbabwe's ongoing financial challenges. His involvement is seen as a strategic boost to the party's grassroots mobilisation and economic empowerment efforts.
Meanwhile, ZANU-PF Harare provincial political commissar Voyage Dambuza announced that the party will intensify membership recruitment in urban areas to reclaim lost ground ahead of future elections.
"We will continue recruiting daily to ensure our popularity grows. Our message of economic empowerment resonates with the masses," Dambuza said.
Tagwirei, a key figure in Zimbabwe's business landscape, is expected to channel resources and expertise into party-aligned projects, aligning political goals with economic growth.
The youth wing pledged to work closely with him to ensure his contributions translate into tangible benefits for both party supporters and the broader Zimbabwean population.
