Truck driver kills nine‑year‑old boy in Mazowe accident

MAZOWE - A 23‑year‑old truck driver has been arrested after he allegedly ran over and killed a nine‑year‑old boy along the Harare-Mukumbura highway over the weekend.
The driver, Simbarashe Nyajena, was reportedly speeding when he struck Tinaye Magwiroto at the 32‑kilometre peg. Nyajena, who was driving a white Hino Dutro, allegedly failed to stop as the child attempted to cross the road.
Magwiroto sustained severe head and leg injuries. He was rushed to Concession Hospital, where he died upon admission.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident.
"I can confirm a fatal road accident in Mazowe where Magwiroto died after being hit by a truck," he said.
Police have urged motorists to avoid speeding, warning that reckless driving continues to claim innocent lives.
