NYABIRA - Renowned philanthropist and traditional leader Sekuru Kamwelo Banda has thrown his weight behind First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa's humanitarian initiatives, joining her food distribution programme in Nyabira and praising her consistent support for vulnerable communities.

The event, attended by Mashonaland West Minister of State Marian Chombo, targeted disadvantaged families and highlighted the growing collaboration between private philanthropists and the First Lady's office.

Banda said the First Lady's work had become a model of inclusive and sustainable philanthropy.

"We should take a template from the First Lady's philanthropic initiatives, which are both inclusive and sustainable. The same consistency that the whole world is witnessing in the First Lady's work should be complemented by everyone," Banda said.

He added that the First Lady's efforts were central to the Second Republic's development agenda.

"When talking about the Second Republic's achievements, it would be unfair if we don't mention the First Lady's office because she is complementing the sustainable development of our country. She is working tirelessly to ensure that both philanthropy and gastronomy tourism are placed on the world map," he said.

Minister Chombo commended Banda for consistently supporting government‑led social safety nets and strengthening the First Lady's humanitarian programmes.

"This is the essence of Public‑Private Partnerships, where community leaders complement the First Lady's philanthropic and humanitarian efforts in transforming citizens. We appreciate these initiatives, which support aspects of the National Development Strategy 2," Chombo said.

"You are complementing the leadership's efforts in addressing social challenges within communities. We welcome all initiatives that seek to socially and economically empower disadvantaged members of society," she added.

The collaboration underscores the growing synergy between influential community leaders and government structures in tackling social challenges. It also reinforces the government's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in line with Vision 2030.
