Police in Chivhu have arrested a 74‑year‑old man in connection with a murder and attempted murder incident that occurred in Mudavanhu Village.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of Never Nhire (74), who allegedly committed the offences on 20 February.
"The suspect allegedly stabbed the complainant (survivor) once on the head with an okapi knife, accusing him of spreading rumours that he was engaging in relationships with several women in the village," police said.
The complainant managed to escape and was taken to Nharira Clinic, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
Police said that after the first attack, Nhire proceeded to the homestead of Itai Chidangure (62), whom he allegedly stabbed once on the neck over the same allegations.
"Itai Chidangure died at the scene. His body was taken to Chivhu General Hospital mortuary for post‑mortem," police said.
