Four people were killed and four others injured in a head‑on collision involving a passenger bus and a truck along the Harare–Masvingo Road early Wednesday morning.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the fatal accident occurred on 13 May 2026 at around 1:30am at the 220‑kilometre peg near Mvuma.

Police said the driver of an Asian Star bus travelling from Masvingo to Harare with 60 passengers on board attempted to avoid a pedestrian who was on the road. In the process, the bus encroached into the opposite lane and collided head‑on with a Mercedes‑Benz Atego truck carrying two occupants.

"The bus veered off the road, overturned and landed on its side, while the truck subsequently struck the pedestrian," police said.

The truck driver, the two passengers in the truck and the pedestrian all died on the spot.

Four passengers from the bus sustained injuries and were taken for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were ferried to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for post‑mortem examinations.

Police have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the country's roads, particularly during night travel.
