A 33-year-old Chitungwiza woman has become one of the richest till
operators in the world after winning a whopping US$131 000 in the Africa
lotto jackpot.
Mrs Olivia Lole , who is a till operator at ViJays Wholesalers , could not hide her joy when she was today presented with the cheque at a ceremony organised by Africa lotto at TM Magaba in the capital.
"I am a regular lottery player but this time I was motivated by my sister who won a VW Polo in the Telecel promotion last month.
Mrs Lole got the fortune of a lifetime when she used US$1 to hit the jackpot.
Mrs Lole ,who was accompanied by her self- employed husband,Mr Ngoni Lole , said they were planning to buy three houses and two cars for themselves and their two children.
"We are going to plan as a family, but right now our first priority is to buy our own house as we are renting the house we are staying in and probably we are going to buy two cars.
We will use the remainder to open a baby wear shop and resuscitate the other shop we already own in Chitungwiza," said Mrs Lole.
"We also plan to venture into the transport sector by purchasing a commuter omnibus," added the ecstatic Mrs Lole.
Despite scooping the lump sum, Mrs Lole indicated that she was not going to abandon her work yet.
"Of course I have won some money but that is not the reason for me to quit my job. The people I work for have a lot of money in their accounts but they still want to venture into new grounds. That's the route we as a family want to take," she said.
Asked to comment about the fortune circling in her family, Mrs Lole said it was the hand of God at work.
(Kubata kwaMwari kunoshamisa.Jehovha vano simudza marombe kubva muguruva)God's touch is amazing. He is able to lift us from the rubble to riches," said Mrs Lole.
