Mzembi scoops tourism personality of 2013 award

Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Engineer Walter Mzembi, is the Zimbabwe Council of Tourism personality of the year.
Minister Mzembi was awarded the gong on the basis of the successful run of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation 20th General Assembly, which was hosted by Zimbabwe last year.
Deputy Tourism Minister, Brigadier-General Kanhanga, received it on behalf of Minister Muzembi at the awards ceremony in Harare recently.
In respect of the other awards, ZCT past president Glenn Stuctchbury took the ZCT Special Award, which is given to a person advancing the interests of the travel and tourism sector in general and the ZCT in particular.
The Rainbow Tourism Group Award for best entrepreneur was shared by Wengai Nhau of Wenhau Safaris and Blessing Munyenyiwa of Love For Africa.
The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge Tourism Group Award for best promotional material in all media went to Cresta Spray View.
Environmentalist Clive Stockil scooped the Green Globe 21 Trophy for environmental action and awareness.
Africa Albida Tourism took the David Chapman Cup for innovation, and the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA) Award for best secretariat within the ZCT family was jointly awarded to Precious Matsilele-Marimbire of ZCT and Violet Rukande of Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe.
The award ceremony also doubled up as a fund raising event for ZCT in collaboration with National Parks and Wildlife to spearhead the campaign to raise money and to aid in the wildlife conservation programs of the National Parks and Wildlife.
