5 Delta Beverages workers in car crash after looting spree

Five Delta Beverages workers in Chivhu have been convicted for stealing beer and soft drinks from their company.

Masvingo Mirror reported that The convicts, Simon Tsure (30), Arthur Munodawafa (33), Vengai Mutuwere (27), who were security guards of the Securico Company, Tatenda Muchakata (24) and Talent Mapfumo (26) would all perform 350 hours of community service.

It was the State case that on March 31, 2016 at around 5pm the five men were on duty at Delta Beverages depot and connived to steal some beer and soft drinks, which they put aside at the complex.

Muchakata and Mapfumo knocked off from duty at around 9pm and left Tsure, Munodawafa and Mutuwere on guard of the loot.

At around midnight, Muchakata and Mapfumo returned to the depot and collected some of the drinks and sold them to a kiosk owner.

They later returned to the depot with a taxi driver to collect the remaining loot. However, when they arrived at the depot, they discovered that they had been caught by the depot supervisor Jonathan Chamunorwa, who was waiting by the gate after he had received a tip off. They ordered the taxi driver to speed off from the scene.

Chamunorwa went after them with his car. The three men got involved in an accident after the taxi driver failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Jameson and De Clerk Streets.

Chamunorwa made a report to the Police leading to the arrest of the five.
The stolen beverages were worth $305 96 and were all recovered
