ZPC Kariba 0 - 1 Harare City
MOSES Chunga got the better of his mentor Sunday Chidzambwa as a Ronald Chitiyo first half strike helped Harare City edge ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Nyamhunga.

Both coaches had been itching for a win after their last three assignments had failed to yield wins.

But it was Chunga who had the last laugh as Chitiyo's 15th minute strike proved enough to separate the two sides.

Harare City have also been ZPC Kariba's bogey side and the trend continued yesterday as the electricity men stretched their winless run to four matches.

Yesterday's result did not go down well with a section of the ZPC Kariba fans who protested against their team.

Despite the loss Chidzambwa was happy with his team's overall showing and reckoned there had been an improvement from their last showing which ended in an identical 1-0 defeat by Ngezi Platinum last Saturday.

Chidzambwa believes his team are "just going through a bad spell'' and will bounce back to winning ways.

"Today the boys put a lot of effort and efficiency in the match, but it was not our day," said Chidzambwa.

The hosts started the match on the offensive putting visiting Harare City under relentless pressure, but as they have done in their previous three outings, they lacked precision.

ZPC were duly punished after just a quarter of an hour when Harare City found what proved to be the winner.

Rangy striker Francisco Zvikumbawire's goal bound shot was parried back into by 2014 Goalkeeper of the Year Tendai Hove, but the ball fell into the path of an on rushing Chitiyo who blasted home from close range.

There was little goalmouth action from both sides in the second period, but the hosts continued to dominate. Chunga was naturally happy to see the Sunshine Boys stem their winless run.

"We are happy with the three points after coming from back to back defeats. It is always good to collect maximum points on the road although the boys were not playing well in the second half," Chunga said.

Chunga, who is also known for introducing young talent in the Premiership also took time to salute 19-year-old defensive midfielder Learnmore Muyambo whom he reckoned has improved immensely.

"I am happy for Muyambo who has improved and I think he will continue like that. This is his third game and he has shown a lot of potential and I believe he will get better with each passing game," Chunga said.
